A PRIVATE REVOLUTION
A private revolution - Prod/Dir Bryan Dixon 2003, 28mins miniDV
Nominated for the Jerwood First Cuts Award, Sheffield International Documentary Festival 2004
The first Coachroad production in association with Salford University and Escuala de International de Cine y Televisión, Cuba following Bryan Dixon's selection to attend the International Film School of South America. The challenge of this project were the restrictions placed on the filmmaker - working in a foreign language with interpreters whilst being unable to film the subjects directly because of the political situation in Cuba and the additional fear of exposing the condition (HIV/AIDS) of the subjects.
A private revolution
charts the lives of three men through oral testimony set against the visual backdrop of the crumbling city of Havana. Their seemingly disparate lives are suddenly brought together by their shared experience of personal tragedy.
